PLACE Practitioners Visit Capitol Hill to Advocate for Increased HOME Funding

On April 14-16, 2015, community development practitioners from ten PLACE member organizations came together on Capitol Hill to advocate with congressional representatives for increased funding for HUD’s HOME program, and for HUD clarification of rules on using HOME to support permanently affordable homeownership.  Our members had meetings with 57 Congressional offices, including members of the Appropriations Committee in the House and Senate; the Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development Subcommittee in the House and Senate; the Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee in the Senate; and the Committee on Financial Services in the House.

The offices and legislative aides we met with are shown on the following list. PLACE is encouraging all of our members to follow up with the senators and representatives on this list if you are located in their home state or district; or to contact your own senators and representative in order to follow up and let them know how important HOME and National Housing Trust Fund support are to our work as community development practitioners. You can find contact information for your local Congressional offices here.
